New report finds baby boomers are web savvy
The Center for Media Research just released a study, conducted by ThirdAge, Inc and JWT BOOM, that indicates 40+ year olds are hip to the internet as nearly 75% have Broadband internet in their homes. The group labeled as “Third Agers” is defined as baby boomers and mid-lifers ranging in age from mid 40’s through mid 60’s.
If your business caters to this demographic, logic indicates that it’s time to start pro-actively reaching such customers through various Internet Channels. The study went on to indicate that 80% have responded to promotional emails, 90% have visited a website after reading a print article, 85% have visited a website after seeing a TV commercial and 65% have visited a website after hearing it on the radio. These are staggering numbers when one considers direct response and engaging potential customers.
The most compelling statistic from this survey is that in the next 15 years the 50-64 year old population will grow by 50% and the 65+ population by 32%!!
If you sell to this audience, it is imperative that you increase your Internet exposure through prominent channels such as search, email, and social media. Not only will this lead to increase visibility and revenues, but it will firmly set your company on course to capture a market that will grow by 50% in the next 10-15 years. At the end of the day, this greatly increases the value of your company!!
